What is cannulation?

The cannula is a very fine tube. When it is inserted into a blood vessel or a duct, it is called cannulation. Dye is delivered to the blood vessel through the cannula and X-ray pictures taken to find out if anything is wrong with it. Virtually every artery and vein in the body can be cannulated.
